The Scarecrow

We have had a hard time keeping bunnies, squirrels, and gophers out of the garden. We tried lots of things to keep them out. We heard about this from John from "Johns Pest Control". John comes to our house once a month to spray for ants and other bugs. I told him we where having a problem with these crazy animals so he recommended "The Scarecrow". Let me tell you it is wonderful. It keeps the animals out and the kids love to play with it. It is motion activated and shoot water for three seconds when it senses something, then resets again after eight seconds and waits for something to cross its path.
 I highly recommend it

Home grown salad

A couple of nights ago I picked lettuce, radish sprouts, dill, chives, cilantro, and parsley. I threw it all in a salad and it was great. My Husband said it was the freshest salad he had ever had. Can't wait for the rest of our veggies to be ready.

We have started our garden again this year and hope it survives. We Learned that one of the most important things when growing a garden is location location location. So this year we have planted in mostly full sun area.
MARCH 25, 2012
We had to take down our wood fence but it was worth it.We had fire wood all winter and even left over wood to make planter boxes.
My awesome cousin made the boxes for us. He did a great job. It was great to be able to re use the wood instead of buying new.

The soil is very rich and great for planting in the area we chose this year. My wonderful husband spent about two weeks getting the soil ready by watering and tilling it. We did it all by hand. We had to but chicken wire around our chain link fenceand an electric fence to keep the dog out. This year we planted fruit trees, grapevines, strawberries, tomatoes, beans, corn, radishes, lettuce, carrots, kohlrabi, broccoli, peanuts, beets, okra, artichoke, lavender, watermelon, cantaloup, lots of different types of squash, pumpkins, wildflowers, herb garden, and potatoes. I am probably forgetting lots of veggies but you get the idea.
